What an electrical spotter actually does on your site
An electrical spotter watches plant and people working near live electrical services and stops the job before anything gets close to a limit of approach. On sites with overhead powerlines, live substations, or underground cables that nobody has fully proven, the spotter is the control measure that lets the work proceed at all.
The role is simple to describe and easy to get wrong. A good spotter understands exclusion zones, knows when to call the work to a halt, communicates clearly with the operator, and holds their nerve when the schedule is pushing back. That judgement is what you are hiring, not just a high-vis presence.
Why induction matters more than availability
Most labour hire companies can eventually find you a spotter. The delay is rarely the person, it is the paperwork. Site inductions on major infrastructure projects take days, run to fixed intake windows, and cost money before the worker has done an hour of productive work.
Our crews are already inducted on several major Sydney water, tunnelling and metro projects. If your job is on a site where we already work, a spotter can often start almost immediately, because the induction is already done.
How we supply
Hourly hire is the most common arrangement: you pay for the hours worked, we handle payroll, insurances, super and workers compensation. For longer packages we supply the same crew for the project duration so your supervisors are not re-explaining the job every week.
We also supply spotters alongside other crew types, which is usually cheaper than sourcing them separately from two suppliers.
